We completed this Kitchen Makeover in Durham for Mr Irving who was looking to update his kitchen by removing the freestanding cooker and fridge freezer, which they hated.
The brief was to create a modern looking kitchen with clean lines and hidden appliances where possible. Mr Irving preferred neutral tones and also wanted to add some informal dining space.
Our designer specified the Integra doors, which are handleless door, with a flat slab profile, encompassing a routed built-in handle to create a sleek finish.
The slab style door in gloss cashmere with the white Paros marble laminate worktops creates a heavenly looking kitchen space for those seeking a stylish, neutral look.
One of the things Mr Irving disliked about his old kitchen was the freestanding cooker and appliances being on show. By installing new tall units, we were able to remove the unsightly free-standing cooker and fridge freezer. Then replace them with a built-in oven and countertop, hob arrangement. We also made space for a new integrated fridge freezer and matching full height, pantry cupboard, you don’t even know it’s there till you open the doors.
The space where the free-standing oven was located provided some much-needed storage in the form of drawers and we also hid the washing machine by installing a new integrated unit and matching door. It really was a tale of two halves – we kept half the kitchen and completely made the most of other half with new units, including the creation of a beautiful new breakfast bar.

Why a Makeover
Mr Irving opted for a Hybrid Kitchen Makeover retaining some original units while adding some new units to improve the functionality. Retaining some of the original units saved a lot of time and money.
Design Features and Challenges
Adding the breakfast bar fulfilled the customers brief and increased the storage space. However, it also had the potential to create a dead corner. By turning a standard unit 180 degrees we have been able to add a usable cupboards to the dining area.
Appliances
Built in Bosch oven and matching microwave
Bosch induction hob
Hotpoint full height integrated fridge freezer
Hotpoint integrated slimline dishwasher and washing machine
