Amy from Howden had a well-loved kitchen with light cream, gloss doors and Oakgrain worktops. It was clean, classic, but simply not her style. What she wanted was something bold and something blue. When she walked into our kitchen showroom in Durham she was instantly inspired by the variety and creativity of our kitchen displays. Not to mention the hundreds of other door styles and colours we had to choose from. Armed with lots of research, from visits to other kitchen showrooms, she was initially leaning toward deep Indigo tones, although Amy was open to ideas. That’s where the design team really helped her out and the transformation plan really began.
After chatting with our expert team, she fell in love with the beautifully rich Colonial Blue, which is a vibrant, mid-toned shade that really brought her vision to life. Her existing kitchen, though dated, was in excellent structural condition, making it the perfect candidate for our full makeover service rather than a complete refit.
Amy’s goal was clear: a sleek, modern, uncluttered kitchen with character and charm. Out went the traditional country-style elements, and in came a fresh new look, starting with elegant Richmond doors. These are a modern twist on the classic Shaker style. With slim outer rails and a continuous frame detail, this door choice hit all the right notes for a contemporary finish. The new smooth matt surface also made it a dream to keep clean, so we were able to offer something both stylish and practical.
The full transformation included new doors, drawers, panels, plinths, and trims, plus a stunning new worktop that perfectly complemented the Colonial Blue palette. Amy took the opportunity to upgrade her kitchen even further, with a new sink, pull-out spray tap, oven, and ceramic hob - all handpicked in our showroom, to complete her dream kitchen space.
And the best part? The entire makeover was completed by our expert fitters in just 3 days - bringing Amy’s vision to life quickly, seamlessly, and with stunning results.

Why a Kitchen Makeover ?
Her current kitchen had been in place since she bought the house and despite this it was in surprisingly good shape for its age. So, a makeover was the perfect solution to create her dream kitchen.
Amy asked us to give her kitchen a full makeover including replacing; doors, drawers, panels, plinth and trims, to make it modern and contemporary. She had a clear plan to create something sleek and uncluttered, as the kitchen she’d had previously was more of a traditional, country design.
